Location: Michael and Marions (upstairs) - 89 Bayfield Street, Barrie, ON Time: September 19, 2024 - 5:30 p.m. Networking - AGM and Session - 6:00 p.m. Cost: This event is included in membership to the EPCSC Session Title: Barrie Community Foundation Session Overview: The Barrie Community Foundation builds and manages endowment funds to support charitable activities in Barrie and area. Because of its focus on permanent endowment funds, the Foundation works with many donors and advisors on estate gifts and longer term gift planning. Learn more about the mandate and opportunities for philanthropy through this locally run and locally focused foundation. Speaker Bio: Alf Dick - Foundation volunteer, retired lawyer Alf practiced law in Barrie for 55 years, mainly in Real Estate, Wills and Estates, before retiring in 2017. After his Call to the Bar of Ontario in 1962 he was with Stewart Esten ( as it is now known) for some 22 years, then practiced on his own before finishing his final 10 years with Burgar Rowe/Barriston Law. During that time Alf was a member of Central United Church in Barrie which created a separate corporation known as Central House Foundation( Barrie) Limited for certain investment ventures, and he served on its Board for some 40 years—the significance of that organization would become clear as part of the Barrie Community Foundation presentation. Sarah Ingram - Executive Director Sarah joined Barrie Community Foundation as the Executive Director in 2020 after a successful tenure of more than 20 years with many charitable organizations, including several regional health centres. Sarah specializes in current program evaluation and future planning, resource realignment for revenue impact, constituency growth, and creating the right path for organizations to secure large gifts. A committed volunteer and donor, Sarah’s past projects include: chair of the Barrie Public Library Board, member of the National Government Relations Committee for AFP Canada, Canada 150 Barrie Committee member, and many more. Sarah is registered mentor with the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She gives her time and generously supports many local, regional and far-reaching organizations. Dinner will be provided
